A peak into the industry’s future; why we need to embrace AI

Welcome to the first edition of Editor’s Picks from Tomorrow’s Publisher.

We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we have received about our new publishing venture. Thank you very much – and please keep it coming.

On both the website and in this newsletter, we want to showcase opinion and analysis on the issues that matter to publishers, alongside the latest in AI-enabled publishing.

Naturally, anything involving AI provokes a wide range of responses. So to mark our launch we asked our colleague Ivan Massow, founder of NoahWire, to explain how it works and how we use it in Tomorrow’s Publisher. He makes a strong argument for how AI will enrich journalism, not replace it. For my part, I feel that it’s not just journalism’s business model that is in trouble, but its core activity. In A New Journalism, I explain why we need to make a more decisive break from the old customs and practices of newsrooms to truly thrive. It’s a very long read, but then I think it’s a very important subject!

Finally, we’ve spoken to ad-industry experts who suggest a potential boost for open-web advertising as Meta’s embraces the wild west coast “anything goes” philosophy towards free speech that has accompanied Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
